Emma Showers is a Student at Law at Kazandji Law and a Juris Doctor candidate at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law. She is also a Registered Social Worker and holds a Master of Social Work and a Master of Education. Her combined legal, clinical, and educational background allows her to approach client problems through both a legal and trauma-informed lens.
Emma has developed practical experience within Ontario's criminal justice system through work with the Ministry of the Attorney General, where she gained exposure to courtroom proceedings, disclosure review, file preparation, and trial-related processes. This experience strengthened her understanding of prosecutorial responsibilities, procedural fairness, evidentiary organization, and the way criminal proceedings affect accused persons, complainants, and families.
Her social-work background is particularly relevant to criminal and family matters involving trauma, mental health, relationship breakdown, domestic conflict, systemic barriers, and high-conflict communication. At Kazandji Law, she assists with research, drafting, client support, document review, and case preparation in both practice areas. She brings an informed understanding of how legal proceedings can affect a client's safety, stability, parenting relationships, and ability to participate meaningfully in the process.
Emma is also engaged in academic research and publication. She is a published co-author of a 2026 article in an American Psychological Association journal examining gender identity and language among racialized gender-expansive emerging adults. Her research reflects a broader interest in identity, language, mental health, and access to justice.
Emma is committed to transparent, client-centred advocacy and to ensuring that clients receive information in a form they can understand and use. She provides services in English and works with clients throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
