Usman Farhat is an Associate Lawyer at Kazandji Law whose practice is focused on criminal defence and criminal litigation. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2024 and holds an LL.B. from the University of Karachi, completed in 2017. His legal education and experience across different legal systems allow him to approach criminal cases with a disciplined understanding of evidence, procedure, and courtroom advocacy.
Usman represents clients charged with domestic assault and other intimate-partner allegations, impaired driving and related driving offences, sexual assault, mischief, criminal harassment, threats, breaches, and other Criminal Code offences. His work includes reviewing disclosure, identifying evidentiary and procedural issues, preparing clients for court, negotiating with Crown counsel, conducting judicial pre-trials, and advocating for withdrawals, peace bonds, reduced charges, non-custodial resolutions, and other favourable outcomes where supported by the evidence and circumstances.
He has assisted in achieving favourable outcomes in more than 100 criminal matters. That experience has given him practical familiarity with the pressures clients face after arrest, including restrictive release conditions, reputational harm, family disruption, employment concerns, and uncertainty about the court process. He emphasizes clear communication so that clients understand the allegation, the available defences, the Crown's position, and the realistic paths toward resolution or trial.
Usman is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Criminal Lawyers' Association. He represents clients throughout Ontario and provides services in English, Urdu, and Hindi.
